The HM locknut with metric trapezoidal thread is used to lock the bearing to the shaft. It has eight grooves equally spaced around its circumference, which makes it easy to lock with an impact spanner. The locknut is locked to the shaft by means of an MS locking clip. The HM locknut can be reused without damage. Each time the corresponding locknut is reinstalled, a new locking clip should be used.
